About Me.jpg

I'm a writer, a storyteller, and a general fan of good conversation. It started in the craft of storytelling over twenty years ago when I was writing for the campus newspaper at St. Francis Xavier and mulling over my thoughts in The Casket, Antigonish's weekly community newspaper. Next, it was directly into journalism, where I graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Journalism in 2004

Over the years, I’ve worked with newspapers and media outlets across Canada, writing for Transcontinental Media, Sun Media, Great West Newspapers, Glacier Media, Jenson’s Publishing and Saltwire. I’ve also dabbled in broadcasting with CBC Radio, Rogers TV, and community radio. Journalism gave me a front-row seat to stories that shape our communities, and I’ve loved every moment of it.

But news reporting isn't just storytelling—it's about relating. In 2023, I crossed over to public relations or the dark side, as journalists call it, and earned a PR diploma from the University of Victoria to learn more about storytelling. This allowed me to have greater access to working with not-for-profits and agencies to assist organizations in building their brands and connecting with their audiences in meaningful ways.

This blog is where everything I love about Newfoundland and Labrador comes together. It's arts, culture, history, sport, and small business—all wrapped up in a warm, friendly atmosphere. I hope to write relatable tales, life lessons, and even some humour (yes, I've added AI-generated photos of myself just for shits and giggles but mostly shits). Life is short, so we must not be serious. As a former journalist, current PR professional, and digital marketer, engagement is also interesting, so my blog is a little multifunctional.

So, if you enjoy hearing great stories about people and places in our province, having conversations, learning something new about this craggy Rock that you never knew before, or just looking at Newfoundland sunset pictures, please do get in touch. I'd love to hear from you.
